Official: Moldova prepares to sue Gazprom for energy crisis
CHISINAU, Dec 14 (PRIME) – Moldova is preparing to sue Gazprom for an energy crisis in the country because the Russian gas giant cut supplies, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu told DW (whom Russia recognizes as a foreign agent) late on Tuesday.
"We have a contract with Gazprom, where the gas volume that the Russians must supply, the pricing formula and the payment methods are indicated,” Spinu said.
“We have paid them fully… It is Gazprom that is to blame for us having to buy gas and electric power on the market. Our lawyers are sorting out the details to sue the Russian company for contract non-fulfillment."
The country will demand that Gazprom compensate the country for the need to reduce spending on the other sectors of Moldova's economy and to take out loans.
